Experience whale watching like you never have before…at Stellwagen Bank just off Cape Cod Bay!
The heart of the sanctuary is Stellwagen Bank, an underwater plateau located 5 miles north of Provincetown, MA. The bank is quite large, stretching 19 miles north to south, and six miles across.
Over 130 species from numerous classes of the animal kingdom call Stellwagen Bank home. The most spectacular of these animals are the numerous types of whales and dolphins inhabiting these banks. Frequently seen in this area are humpback whales, fin whales and minke whales. Occasionally, one may get a glimpse of the endangered North Atlantic right whales. Dolphins also love to play on Stellwagen Bank. Frequent sightings may include Atlantic white-sided dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, Risso’s dolphins and harbor porpoises.
The best way to view these magnificent creatures is to book a tour on one of the Whale Watch Tours in the area. Our favorites include:
Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises located in Barnstable Harbor, just 10 minutes from the Honeysuckle Hill Inn.
Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch located in the heart of “downtown” Provincetown.
