Best Mid Cape Cod Bed and Breakfast for 9 years running.

For Pet Lovers

Honeysuckle Hill has a well kept secret.

kttens-01sOur 'secret' is that we have two well-loved, well-behaved canine best friends living here -- Gus, our Golden Retriever, and Harry, our Chocolate Lab.  Guests rarely hear or see them, however, unless by specific request. The boys do love to be involved in meeting and greeting and are always happy to answer a guest's desire to shower them with attention.

Gus, Harry and Freddy on Sandy Neck Beach, MADue to the possibility that some guests may have allergies, our pets are not allowed in the Inn itself and do not roam freely in the gardens. They live in the owners’ quarters and have their own outdoor areas to play. The dogs join us for a run on the beach every day, so there is a chance to see them out of their natural habitat.

Until quite recently, Gwen, our beloved Champion Champagne Mink Tonkinese cat, was among our creature best friends. Sadly, after sharing our lives for 16 years, she is no longer with us.   As mentioned previously on this page, while we cannot – and would not try to – replace Gwen, our home did not feel the same without a Tonk or two on site and we had planned to acquire two new Tonkinese kittens within a short time period.  As it has turned out, we took a slight detour.  We decided to go back to the origins of the Tonkinese -- to the Burmese breed.  Tonkinese are half Burmese/half Siamese and, as such, “going Burmese” is not a significant change from our Tonkinese roots.

kttens-02sSo, with great fanfare, we are very excited to introduce the two newest members of the Honeysuckle Hill household: a delightful brother/sister pair of 13 week old Burmese kittens, Troilus, who is Platinum in color, and Cressida, who is Champagne in color.  Troy and Sid have brought new sparkle and laughter to an already fun environment.  Gus and Harry and our two rescue cats (Tristan and Isolde) have welcomed them into their lives and, so far, it would appear that the kittens are in charge.  Troy and Sid can amuse themselves with absolutely anything including Freddy’s socks (we have no idea where some of those have got to), pieces of newspapers, and dogs’ tails.

For those not familiar with the Burmese breed, they are true lap-loving companions, quick to learn and extremely loyal. They are very trusting of people and often beat their owners to the door to greet the guests. Burmese are often described as ‘dog’ like because they tend to follow their owners from room to room.

If you are missing your own “best friends” while staying at Honeysuckle Hill, ask for an audience with the kittens or Harry and Gus.  We’re sure they will delight you as much as they do us.

We are sorry, but we cannot allow any pets in the Inn itself.
