Destination Cape Cod
Many of our guests have asked us to tell them how our journey towards inn keeping at Honeysuckle Hill came about. We have finally managed to put pen to paper. Here’s the tale of an adventure we have loved.

Our story goes back quite a few years to when we first started vacationing on Cape Cod together, about 20 years ago. We were very fortunate to be able to spend a couple of weeks a ye ar at Ruth’s brother’s South Wellfleet vacation home with breathtaking views from the dunes, looking down over the Cape Cod National Seashore. Over the years, and from that idyllic site, we explored just about every nook and cranny of Cape Cod. To us, the Cape was, and still is, our beloved refuge, our romantic escape, our shared passion. And, to this day, crossing over the Sagamore bridge still brings with it a sudden and magical escape into a somewhat surreal fairy tale land, a place of sun bleached clapboard, drifting sand, rolling dunes, dramatic sunsets and an enticing moon that inexplicably appears so much brighter and larger than anywhere else! Freddy often describes the escape of crossing over that bridge by quoting Thoreau; i.e., that here, "a man might stand and put all America behind him".
It is no wonder, then, that we eventually began dreaming of escaping to the Cape on a permanent basis. And it was not much later that the delightful, historic Inns that are eccentrically dotted along winding Route 6A (Old King’s Highway) began to catch our fancy and imagination. After evaluating Cape Cod’s Inn keeping business and visiting many of the Cape’s Inns over a period of more than 10 years, we were very excited to make our inn keeping debut in 2004. The final decision was based on our mutual love of the Cape, Freddy’s flair for cooking, gardening and entertaining, our joint interest in decorating and the fact that, at Honeysuckle Hill, we had finally found the Inn that, like for Goldilocks, “felt just right”! It took just one overnight stay at Honeysuckle Hill to know that we would b e able to immediately settle into this 1810 Queen Ann Inn and make it our home. Of equal importance to us, we knew that with the charming Honeysuckle Hill as a backdrop, we would be able to provide all of the personal touches and attention necessary for our guests to relax in the warmth and comfort of our home, enhanced by 5 star amenities and concierge service.
We have thoroughly enjoyed living at Honeysuckle Hill and truly love welcoming and taking care of all of our guests; many have become good friends and regular visitors. And to our great pleasure, our efforts have been rewarded over the past five years with recognition by the readers of Cape Cod Life magazine as consistent winners of the Best Mid-Cape Inn award. We think this means we’re doing something right!
As we now approach our 6th season at Honeysuckle Hill, we continue to look forward to greeting old and new friends, and hope to ensure that you have a wonderful and especially memorable time on Cape Cod.
We have loved making our guests a part of our lives!
